TODAY IS THE DAY! - A BLOG FROM URS Today is the day: Our first show at the London Coliseum! Everything we've done over the last few weeks has lead up to this moment.
We visited the venue back in may and got the grand tour by the technical manager Dewi who has been working in this theatre for more than 30 years. Of course he had a lot of stories to tell. He showed us the seats where the phantoms usually sit and watch the shows... Anyway, we're very excited to perform in this iconic theatre and home of the English National Opera.
We have been pretty much away from the public eye after we'd finished the 2009 world tour and the Christmas shows. We have spent a lot of that time since in the studio, recording and refining our upcoming new album, to which the coliseum shows are a kind of a launch event.
The first time we performed a song from this new repertoire was at the Royal Albert Hall, where we got the award for "Artist of the Decade" at the Classic Brits. It was then and there where we worked for the first time with Brian Burke, an artistic director from Vegas, who is best known for the 5 year running Celine Dion show "A New Day", and the water spectacle "Le Reve", a show he is currently still working on at the Wynn in Vegas. Brian created the visuals for our Brits performance, and we were all so thrilled with the result that we commissioned him to stage a full show for us: "Il Divo Live at The London Coliseum".
After several conference calls and video chats from all over the world to discuss ideas we finally met again just about two weeks ago. He and his team, stage manager Justin Mabardi and choreographer Ray Leaper, presented us with "The Bible" a 60 page workbook in which every detail of the show was meticulously planned out and documented.
Now Il Divo wouldn't be Il Divo if we would just say yes to everything and do what we're being told. So we obviously had our own individual opinions and ideas and we were keen to make them be heard. We have however gotten quite good at dealing with different opinions over the past 8 years, so we managed to bring it all together in a constructive dialogue to finalise elements of the show.
What followed was an intense period of rehearsing; we had to get the show from the paper ready to go on stage in just 7 days. However, Brian and his team, as well as our MD Andrew Small were so incredibly professional that now, that we're about to go on, we feel very well rehearsed confident and secure with what we're doing. And, of course, we are very excited to be back onstage and singing for our audience. We rehearsed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra yesterday, and its so wonderful to have a big orchestra behind you, especially in hearing some of the new songs take shape in a live studio.
It is going to be our first show in the UK for almost 20 months and we're eager to make it worth the wait. Tonight and tomorrow it will be up you all to tell us again if we've kept our promise. We cant wait to see you all at "The London Coliseum".

Todo lo que hemos hecho durante las últimas semanas ha llevado hasta este momento. Visitamos el lugar en mayo y tuvimos la gran gira dada por Dewi el director técnico que ha estado trabajando en este teatro desde hace más de 30 años. Por supuesto que había un montón de historias que contar. Él nos mostró los asientos donde los fantasmas suelen sentarse y ver los espectáculos ...
De todos modos, estamos muy emocionados de llevar a cabo en este teatro emblemático y sede de la Ópera Nacional Inglesa.
Hemos estado bastante lejos de la vista del público desde que terminó la gira mundial de 2009 y la muestra de Navidad. Hemos pasado mucho tiempo desde entonces en el estudio, grabando y perfeccionando nuestro próximo álbum nuevo, a la que la muestra en el coliseo es un tipo de un evento de lanzamiento.
La primera vez que interpretamos una canción de este nuevo repertorio fue en el Royal Albert Hall,en donde nos dieron el premio al "Artista de la Década" en los Brit Awards clásicos. Fue allí donde trabajamos por primera vez con Brian Burke, director artístico de Las Vegas, que es más conocido por los 5 años colaborando con Celine Dion en "A New Day", y el espectáculo de agua "Le Reve", y actualmente, sigue trabajando en el Wynn Las Vegas. Brian creó los efectos visuales de nuestro presentación en los Brit, y todos estábamos muy emocionados con el resultado que le encargamos llevar a cabo un programa completo para nosotros: "Il Divo en vivo en el Coliseo de Londres".
Después de varias llamadas en conferencia y video chats desde todo el mundo para debatir ideas que finalmente se reunieron de nuevo sólo hace unas dos semanas. Él y su equipo, director de escena y coreógrafo de Justin Mabardi Ray Leaper, nos presentó "La Biblia", un libro de 60 páginas en el que fue planeado cada detalle del espectáculo meticulosamente y documentado.
Ahora Il Divo no sería Il Divo si dijeramos que sí a todo y hacer lo que nos decían. Así que, obviamente, teníamos nuestras propias opiniones e ideas individuales y estábamos dispuestos a hacer que fueran escuchadas. Sin embargo, hemos conseguido muy buenos resultados lidiando con opiniones diferentes en los últimos 8 años, y tuvimos que ponerlo todo junto en un diálogo constructivo para finalizar los elementos del espectáculo.
Lo que siguió fue un intenso período de ensayo, nos tuvimos que ir listos para subir al escenario en sólo 7 días. Sin embargo, Brian y su equipo, así como nuestra MD Andrew Small eran tan increíblemente profesionales que ahora, que estamos a punto de seguir adelante, nos sentimos muy bien ensayado confiados y seguros con lo que estamos haciendo.
Y, por supuesto, estamos muy contentos de estar de vuelta en el escenario y cantar para nuestra audiencia.
Ensayamos ayer con la Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra , y es tan maravilloso tener una gran orquesta detrás de uno, especialmente en la audiencia algunas de las nuevas canciones toman forma en un estudio en vivo.
Va a ser nuestro primer show en el Reino Unido desde hace casi 20 meses y estamos ansiosos de que valga la pena la espera. Esta noche y mañana será hasta que todos los que nos diga de nuevo si hemos cumplido nuestra promesa. No podemos esperar para verlos a todos en "El Coliseo de Londres".
